York City striker Michael Gash has been put on standby for the England C squad to face Hungary on 15 September.
Gash is one of 14 players in the contingency squad, the final party will consist of 16 players.
York City paid Blue Square Premier rivals Ebbsfleet United £55,000 for the 23-year-old striker in the summer.
The news has come at the end of the week in which Gash scored his first goal for the club in the 2-1 league win at Gateshead.
