Sangare scored twice in 16 games for Salisbury last season
Defender Djoumin Sangare says he wants to make an impression on the York City first team this season.
The French-born player made his first appearance in York's 2-1 win at Gateshead, coming off the bench for the injured David McGurk.
He told BBC Radio York he wanted to take the opportunity to impress.
"It was a bit frustrating for me to be on the bench. Then my chance came and I was ready for it. I'm happy that the team did well."
"It was a good achievement and we had a really good spirit."
He added: "It was a big blow when Richard Pacquette was sent off but after that we showed some character and did really well. Now let's start to make a run."
Sangare, 25, made a shaky start and received a yellow card in the first few minutes of his appearance.
"As a defender, you do your best but when the first ball was played in the channel I wasn't really warm, and slipped a little bit.
"Things happened after that and I had to be clever to make sure the second yellow didn't come and be sent off."
Sangare joined York City in the summer from Salisbury City.
He said: "It was a good experience and I was sad to leave. The gaffer here [York City manager, Martin Foyle] showed me his confidence and I signed to show what I can do and make a step up.
"They're a good bunch of lads and it's a nice town as well - but it's a bit cold."
