York's six-game unbeaten run is Martin Foyle's longest since taking charge
York City manager Martin Foyle praised his side for knuckling down to earn a precious league point at home to play-off contenders Kettering.
The FA Trophy finalists' goalless draw was enough to keep them out of the Blue Square Premier relegation zone.
Foyle told BBC Radio York: "It was a very hard-earned point - they'd had five away clean sheets on the trot.
"I thought we were gutsy, without being spectacular and creating a lot of chances, it was a gutsy good point."
He added: "I don't think (Kettering) were coming to win the game, they were looking at set-pieces and long throws.
I'm pleased with another clean sheet and that's six (games) unbeaten now

"You've got to get a platform, if you build from the back you give yourself a chance and I thought the two centre-halves (Daniel Parslow and Shaun Pejic) were outstanding.
"We stood up and we got our heads stuck in and Daniel McBreen went back and dealt with (Guy) Branston's long throws.
"These are the ugly sides of the game that people don't see, sometimes you've got to shift and graft for 90 minutes."
Right-back Ben Purkiss limped his way through the last 10 minutes after picking up an injury when York had used all their substitutes.
"He got a knock on the kneecap," Foyle added, "and sometimes that can be quite painful, they come around for about 24 hours and then they disappear."
Foyle also has a slight injury doubt over Simon Rusk's ankle for Saturday's visit of Kidderminster.
"I'm pleased with another clean sheet and that's six (games) unbeaten now," he added.
