Mark Yates is confident Harriers can win through in the replay at York City
Martin Brittain netted a second-half equaliser for Kidderminster Harriers as they fought back to earn an FA Trophy third round replay against York City.
Brittain's 80th minute strike cancelled out Adam Boyes' 25th minute opener for the visitors.
Harriers boss Mark Yates told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "The showing wasn't as good as we would have liked, but I am proud of my players.
"We kept going and looked the side that was more likely to go on and win it."
Harriers went into the game as favourites to win through to the last eight of the competition, but they found themselves chasing the game as York deservedly led at the interval courtesy of Boyes' goal.
Harriers lifted their game in the second period and were good value for Brittain's equaliser.
They might have won the game when Matt Barnes-Homer's shot beat visiting goalkeeper Michael Ingham but came back off the inside of an upright.
Yates said his side must be positive when approaching Tuesday night's replay at Kit Kat Crescent.
"They'll be at home, so they'll be the ones trying to take the initiative I would have thought," he said.
"We've got to go there and be brave and try and do what we do best and if we do that, then we'll give ourselves a good chance."
Yates admitted that substitute Brittain's second-half performance meant the midfielder would come into his thinking for a starting place in the side for the replay.
"He's pushed for that recall, of course he has, but he needed a break as he had never played 26 or 27 games on the spin," said Yates.
"To get Darryl [Knights] in the game, Martin has missed out for a couple, but he is a massive part of our squad.
"You've seen the quality that he can produce with his right foot and he can also score goals."
