McGinty was named as backs and defence coach after Clive Griffiths left |
Former skills specialist Billy McGinty has said Worcester Warriors's players have help him to adapt to his new role as backs and defence coach. McGinty moved into the new position following the departure of head coach Clive Griffiths at the end of January. He told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "The transition has been a lot easier for me because of the players' help." The former Wigan rugby league star believes there was a particularly good atmosphere at Sixways at the moment. He added that he and the players are eager to improve on their performances. | It's a lot easier to coach people who want to be coached rather than be glum in the corner Worcester Warriors coach Billy McGinty |
"We don't want to be down the bottom of the league in the second half of the year," he commented. "It's happened virtually every year and it's not a nice place to be, but they're very enthusiastic at the moment which makes my job easier. "It's a lot easier to coach people who want to be coached rather than be glum in the corner." He is looking for a good performance from the squad against Bath on Saturday. "Hopefully we will have an improved performance and a much needed win. We do have home advantage but they're a very very good team."
