Manager Walker leaves York City

Colin Walker has been in charge at Kitkat Crescent for a year

York City manager Colin Walker has been relieved of his managerial duties with immediate effect.

A unanimous decision was made by the club's board and Walker was made aware in a meeting on Friday with chairman Jason McGill and the directors.

Youth team coach, Neil Redfearn, will be in charge of the first team for Sunday's match against Crawley Town.

An announcement regarding the appointment of York City's new manager will be made on Monday.

First-team coach Eric Winstanley has also been relieved of his duties.

The club released a statement to announce the departure which said: "The board of directors would like to thank Colin Walker for all his efforts over the past year and the club would like to wish both Colin and Eric Winstanley the very best for their future careers."
