Yeovil Town insist they have other targets if they fail to land Portsmouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic on loan.
The Bosnian-born Canadian impressed while at the club on loan in March.
"We're monitoring his situation, but he's not the only option we have," Yeovil chief executive Martyn Starnes told BBC Somerset.
"We have our preference and are waiting on other clubs and players so we'll see what drops, but we're confident of getting a very capable gloveman."
Yeovil have been without a senior goalkeeper since Steve Mildenhall left to join Southend earlier in the summer.
Manager Russell Slade is also looking to strengthen his attacking options after Marcus Stewart signed for Exeter City, and is reported to have targeted two players with Championship experience.
The manager also cast his eye over two trialists from Trinidad and Tobago in a training match at the University of Bath on Monday.
