Yeovil manager Gary Johnson has confirmed that striker Adam Stansfield has suffered a broken leg.

Stansfield, 23, was forced off after just 17 minutes of the new Conference season, as his team-mates drew 2-2 with Gravesend & Northfleet.

Johnson explained: "Adam has a clean break of his tibia and fibia and is expected to be out of action for up to 16 weeks.

"The good news is that his breaks are clean ones, and therefore he should not have to have his leg pinned.

"He will have his leg in a full plaster for six weeks then a smaller one for another six weeks."

However, Johnson accepts that such injuries will inevitably happen from time to time.

"Our thoughts go out to him, but that's the way he is - he's a brave lad, he put his foot in there and unfortunately he's got caught.

"That's why you have a squad - that's why you have a number of players. We've got 21 players."
