Defender Frank Sinclair played more than 300 Premier League games
Veteran defender Frank Sinclair has signed a new one-year deal at Wrexham.
The 38-year-old former Premier League centre-back is among the first to commit his future as boss Dean Saunders starts his summer rebuilding.
Saunders has released 11 players while five, including experienced duo Gareth Taylor and Kris O'Leary, have also been offered new one-year Wrexham deals.
"We have the core of a good side here and I'm sure the boss will be bringing in new faces," said Sinclair.
The ex-Chelsea and Leicester City man, who signed for Wrexham last August, has been sent-off three times for the Blue Square Premier club last season and subsequently missed 13 games through suspension.
Saunders punished the experienced defender following his two March dismissals.
He was sent off in a 1-1 draw against Altrincham for a tackle against Altrincham that left Tom Kearney with a double break of the leg before being red-carded in a 2-2 draw at AFC Wimbledon that led to an equalising penalty.
"Obviously I'll be looking at playing more games this time around and I'm glad that my suspensions don't carry over into next season," Sinclair told Wrexham's official website.
Sinclair did play 20 games this season and despite his indiscretions, Saunders had hailed the former Jamaica international as "different class" and "exactly the type of character we need".
Sinclair, who won the FA and League Cups during his eight years at Chelsea, dropped into the non-league and signed for Wrexham on a free transfer and agreed a one-year deal after being released by Lincoln City at the end of last season.
The former Wales international striker believes Sinclair is a great role model for Wrexham's young squad.
"We know what is expected and I'm looking forward to being part of a successful Wrexham side," added Sinclair.
Wrexham finished their second season in the Blue Square Premier a huge 41 points adrift of champions Stevenage and 20 points short of a play-off place.
Strikers Wes Baynes and Matty Wolfenden, defenders Mike Williams and Sam Williamson and midfielders Mark Jones, Hedi Taboubi, Silvio Spann, Nathan Fairhurst, Jamie McCluskey, Luke Holden and Steve Abbott have already been released as Saunders begins Wrexham's rebuilding programme.
Top-scorer Taylor, the former Wales international, is one of 13 players to be offered new Racecourse deals.
Goalkeeper Sam Russell, defenders Ashley Westwood, Neil Taylor, Kai Edwards, and Aaron Brown, midfielders Andy Fleming, Christian Smith, Johnny Hunt and O'Leary and striker Obi Anoruo have all been offered new 12-month terms.
Former Wales under-21 striker Marc Williams has been given a six-month deal to prove his fitness after recovering from a broken foot - but Saunders had previously warned the players face a pay-cut.
Wrexham have already signed a pre-contract agreement with Histon midfielder Nathaniel Knight-Percival as Saunders plans to sign half-a-dozen new players.
