Murray missed all of 2007/08 through injury

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy says injury-prone goalkeeper Matt Murray will be give as much time as possible to recover from his latest set back.

The 27-year-old is in training again after suffering a recurrence of his knee problem.

McCarthy told BBC WM Murray will not be rushed: "I'm not going to put any timescale on it.

"It's just important he gets himself right, however long that takes. We should give him that opportunity."

Murray damaged his cruciate ligament in his knee and missed all of the 2007/08 season, the latest problem to have dogged the goalkeeper's career.

He played only seven times in three seasons between August 2003 and April 2006 due to a succession of injuries.

McCarthy added that the main reason that Murray will not be under pressure to comeback before he is ready is because of the cover he has in his squad.

"The next five, six, seven years of Matt's career are what it's all about and he won't be rushed.

"He doesn't need to be because, with Karl Ikeme and Wayne Hennessey, we have two great keepers."

Meanwhile, McCarthy says he is nearing a decision over whether to offer a offer trialist Ian Harte a deal at Molineux.

The 30-year-old defender has played a big part in Wolves' pre-season programme and has impressed McCarthy.

"He's a great lad and he's fitted in really, really well.

"He's a couple of weeks behind everyone else in terms of fitness but he'll be involved against Blackburn on Saturday and I'll talk to him then."
