Wolves boss Mick McCarthy gave former Toulouse defender Issoumaila Dao a run-out in the 2-0 friendly win over Stafford Rangers.

The 24-year-old from the Ivory Coast is a free agent after being released by the French club.

"It wasn't a very taxing game for him really, but he's done okay, you can see he knows what it's about," McCarthy told BBC WM.

"I just wanted to play him in the game and I'll take it from there."

Goals from Denes Rosa and Daniel Jones gave Wolves victory in a game lined up to help Stafford manager Steve Bull prepare for his first full season in charge.

"I'm glad to come up here for Bully and for Stafford to help them out. It was a run-out for some of our players, quite competitive, but we'd expect that team to beat Stafford," said McCarthy.
