Deeney's late goal snatched a point for Walsall at Scunthorpe
Walsall striker Troy Deeney says he apologised to his team-mates for not scoring more than once in the Saddlers' 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe.
The 20-year-old's seventh goal in 10 games earned a point, but he feels he should have done better.
"If I'd put my chances in then we go home with three points and we're looking at the play-offs then aren't we?" Deeney told BBC WM.
"The boys said don't worry about it, but it'll be on my mind."
Deeney is within one goal of his target to reach double figures for the season, and his late strike at Scunthorpe was arguably the best goal of his career so far.
The goal was a wonderful feeling - normally I hit those and they go way over the stand

"It was a good goal, but personally I thought I should've scored four more," he insisted.
"It was just one of those days, I thought I'd won the game in the last minute but their keeper did a great save.
"The goal itself was a wonderful feeling. Normally I hit those and they go way over the stand."
Deeney is giving a lot of credit for his development this season to his partnership with the former England striker Michael Ricketts.
Ricketts himself started his professional career at Walsall, and has become something of a mentor to his young strike partner.
"He's a top lad - if I go to him and need advice he's not one of those people who just shrugs it off," said Deeney.
"He'll stand there and talk to me. He'll stay out with me for an extra half an hour to show me the ropes."
