Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore says he may drop his favoured 4-4-2 formation for a more attacking 4-3-3.
Moore tried out the new system in the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool on Saturday and told BBC Radio Merseyside it could be here to stay.
"I just felt if we had gone 4-4-2 against Liverpool we wouldn't have got a kick of the ball," said Moore.
"It's a system that I'm looking at and it's a system we have been working on so we'll see how pre-season goes."
All four of Tranmere's summer signings, Gareth Edds, Edrissa Sonko, George O'Callaghan and Baz Savage featured against Liverpool.
Moore added he would like to make further signings but stressed there are no firm plans to do so at present.
"In an ideal world I'd like another seven," joked Moore before adding: "Realistically, we will just have to wait and see what we can do."
