Cudicini eyeing Tottenham upturn

Cudicini believes Spurs have been underperforming this season

Tottenham goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini says the club do not belong in the bottom half of the table.

Cudicini, 35, who joined the club on a free transfer on Monday from Chelsea, told BBC London 94.9: "We have to get out of this position.

"If you look at the players this club has, it does not belong in this position. We have to get out of it as soon as we can."

Cudicini made his debut in the 3-1 victory against Stoke City on Tuesday.

The win saw the White Hart Lane side climb up to 13th in the table after what has been the club's worst start to a season.

After the game Cudicini added: "It was a fantastic night. We got three points and that was the most important thing for us, so everything went very well.

"I think the most important thing is to get out of this situation at the moment. We're looking forward to bringing this club up to where it belongs.

"Harry [Redknapp] is a great manager and everyone is following him and that is the most important thing."

The Italian keeper joined Chelsea on loan in 1999 from Italian side Castel Di Sangro and signed a permanent deal a year later, costing the club 130,000.

Speaking about his time with the Blues he said: "After 10 years of course it's not easy to leave a lot of friends. I'm 35, so it was almost a third of my life. It was a fantastic experience."
