Tottenham set to decide on Appiah

Stephen Appiah
Appiah is hoping to earn a permanent move to the north London club

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is set to make a final decision on whether to take Ghana captain Stephen Appiah as a free agent.

The midfielder will play a reserve game for Spurs against Reading on Wednesday, with a decision resting on his fitness, following a knee injury.

The 28-year-old has been training with Tottenham over the past month.

"He has had an injury and his fitness is way below what you'd hope it to be," Redknapp said.

"But he's worked hard so I'll have a look at him and give him a decision because he's been with us for about a month now. He needs to know."

Appiah has been without a club since ending his deal with Turkish side Fenerbahce in August.
