Buckle gets Gulls budget increase

Torquay United boss Paul Buckle has had his Plainmoor playing budget increased following further rumours linking him with a move elsewhere.

Acting chairman Simon Baker told BBC Sport: "Paul is happy at Torquay.

"Only yesterday we agreed to slightly increase his playing budget. And remember he signed an extension to his contract only last month."

The latest managerless club to be linked with highly-rated Buckle, 38, are non-league Luton Town.

The Hatters have been without a manager since the departure of Mick Harford on 1 October.

It is not the first time Buckle has attracted the attention of other clubs this year.

The man who led Torquay back to the Football League in May was also linked to the vacancy at Colchester, subsequently filled by Aidy Boothroyd.

But, following reports this week of a League Two club denying permission to make an approach to their manager, Baker insists that the Gulls are not the club in question.

Baker told BBC Sport: "I'd rather not comment except to say it's not true."
