Torquay United manager Paul Buckle has extended his contract at Plainmoor until November 2011, ending speculation that he is leaving the club.
Buckle had been linked with the managerial vacancy at League One club Colchester, before Aidy Boothroyd was appointed on Wednesday.
The 38-year-old said his new contract would provide a "fresh challenge".
"I had to be sure before signing that it was right for me and the club, that was very important and I'm happy now."
Buckle, who took Torquay back into the Football League in May after a two-year absence, told BBC Radio Devon about his plans for the future.

He said: "Now that we're a league club, it's a case of regrouping and building.
"It was agreed with the board [on Thursday] that we're taking the club forward quickly, quicker than most anticipated."
And with the potential to stay at Plainmoor for two more years, Buckle is just keen to get on with the job in hand.
"I'm very happy that I've signed," he said. "The staff are happy and we can move forward."
