Penalty turned the game - Buckle

Paul Buckle
Buckle felt his side could not find the finishing touch at Kettering

Torquay United manager Paul Buckle felt that the awarding of a 12th-minute penalty against his side cost them a win at Kettering, as they lost 2-1.

The Gulls were already one-down after nine minutes before Wayne Carlisle was adjudged to have handled in the box.

"It wasn't through lack of effort or lack of quality either," Buckle told BBC Radio Devon.

"It was a penalty decision that the referee chose to give in Kettering's favour which I feel turned the game."

And Buckle felt that on another day his side would have come away with all three points.

"We got back to 2-1 and it was all us, but we just couldn't find that finishing touch.

"The players' effort deserved a lot more today than to come away from here with no points. I can't fault any of the players, the performance was there but we just didn't get the result today," he said.
