Two quick-fire goals were enough to secure Kettering victory over play-off challengers Torquay.
Jean-Paul Marna put the home side ahead after just nine minutes, drilling the ball home from 12 yards.
The Poppies doubled the lead when Gareth Seddon slotted in from the penalty spot following a handball by Torquay midfielder Wayne Carlisle.
Kevin Nicholson pulled a goal back with a super 25-yard drive but Kettering held on to claim all three points.
