Paynter scored twice on his return to the side against Tranmere
Swindon striker Billy Paynter says he is relishing the competition for a place up front having been relegated to the bench for most of October.
The 25-year-old returned to Danny Wilson's first XI at Tranmere on Saturday, scoring twice in a 4-1 win.
"The gaffer gave me a rest and it worked for him. I came in and wanted to show him," Paynter told BBC Wiltshire.
Paynter was a regular at the start of the season but has recently lost out to Alex Revell and Ben Hutchinson.
Both strikers were signed on loan earlier in the season - Hutchinson from Celtic and Revell from Southend - to boost Swindon's forward options.
"He[Wilson] picks the team. I don't argue and I'm understanding. The gaffer's obviously going to want to chop and change to see what partnership works," added Paynter.
