Peter Winn's late goal saw Gateshead beat Salisbury to secure a first Blue Square Premier win since August.
The home side were unable to break down a resilient Gateshead defence, with Darrell Clarke seeing his shot saved by keeper Paul Farman.
Daniel Webb also went close for the home side but his shot from the edge of the area went wide.
Winn secured all three points for the visitors, picking up Kris Gate's pass and firing into the bottom corner.
