Swindon boss Danny Wilson expects his team to be challenging at the top of League One this season.
Hopes have risen over the summer after the club signed six new players, including the likes of Gordon Greer, Jonathan Douglas and Scott Cuthbert.
Wilson told BBC Wiltshire there is no lack of ambition at the County Ground.
"Sometimes you've got to put your neck on the line and say 'yeah we want to be challenging at the top and we expect to be challenging at the top'," he said.
"The quality of players we've brought in has certainly raised the bar for us, and I think that can only be good for the club," Wilson continued.
"I think it gives you a bit more of a focus going forwards and that's got to be our aim this year. It's a testament to the club as to the ambition they're showing."
Alan O'Brien, Jacub Jesionkowski and David Lucas were also brought to Swindon over the summer and Wilson thinks the new faces have added some quality to his squad.
"A lot of the boys we've brought in are full internationals and to get those types of players in you have to push the boat out. I think we've done that in lots of areas but within the confines of what we can afford."
Swindon are set to start their campaign at Gillingham on Saturday.
