Wilson is starting his first full season as Swindon manager
Swindon Town manager Danny Wilson is hopeful of signing a striker in time for his side's opening League One game at Gillingham on Saturday.
Billy Paynter remains Town's only fit senior striker after the club decided not to bid for Senegalese striker Mouhamadou Seye.
Wilson told BBC Wiltshire conversations continue with a number of clubs.
"I'll be disappointed if we don't get one in for Saturday, but I've been disappointed before," he admitted.
"There are that many things in the pipeline, there's lots of clubs and lots of phone calls and it's a waiting game.
"I'm not frustrated and I'm not disappointed yet. It's a long season in front of us and hopefully we can get the right ones in at the right time for the right price," Wilson added.
Seye spent last week on trial with Swindon and, despite doing well, Wilson decided the striker was not what they were looking for.
The Swindon boss said: "He's gone back. It's never easy for a young lad to come over, but we're looking for a bit more.
"That's a compliment to the level of player we're getting in at the moment."
Swindon have completed one signing though, with Polish goalkeeper Jacub Jesionkowski, 20, joining from Zaglebie Lubin.
