Ryan Shotton pens new deal at Stoke

Shotton has had loan spells at Altrincham, Tranmere and Barnsley

Stoke defender Ryan Shotton has signed a two-year contract extension that ties him to the club until 2013.

Shotton, a product of Stoke's academy, spent the majority of last season on loan at Barnsley, and has not made any first-team appearances for the Potters.

"There was some interest in me, but the manager [Tony Pulis] wanted to keep me here," revealed Shotton, 21.

"I still have a lot to learn in the game, and there is no better place to do that than at Stoke."
