Diao is one of four Senegalese internationals in the Stoke squad
Stoke midfielder Salif Diao and defender Andy Wilkinson have both signed new contracts with the club.
Diao, who was out of contract, will stay at the Britannia for another year.
The 32-year-old former Senegal international made 21 appearances last season in a campaign which saw him struggle with injury.
Wilkinson, 24, the club's longest-serving player, has agreed a 12-month contract extension which will keep him at the club at least 2012.
He said: "I'm delighted that I've signed the extension to my contract.
"It was a dream come true to play for the club I supported as a kid and now to sign a new deal for another season going into the Premier League is another dream."
Diao, who signed from Liverpool in 2007 after a successful loan spell, added: "I'm really happy to sign the contract. I've always wanted to stay here and the club always wanted me to stay here too.
"There's a very difficult season ahead of us now and it's good for everything to be sorted out now."
Chief executive Tony Scholes was pleased to reward both players with new deals as the club heads into its second Premier League season.
"This new contract is a deserved reward for Andy's performances over the last season," he told the club's website.
"Salif has been an important part of Tony Pulis' team for the last two years and we are very pleased that he has decided to stay at the club for a further season."
