Southend transfer restrictions lifted after debts paid

Southend United

The transfer restrictions placed on League One Southend United have been lifted as they have now settled outstanding debts.

The Blues had been limited to making emergency loans.

The lifting of restrictions means Swindon defender Sean Morrison can now stay at Roots Hall for a further month.

Southend manager Steve Tilson told BBC Essex: "It's great news for me. Now we go into Christmas with Sean Morrison having extended his loan."

The Blues had been threatened with administration proceedings and being docked 10 league points had they failed to settle an outstanding tax bill of £2.1m last month.
