Laurent previously played for German side FSV Mainz
Southend United striker Francis Laurent has said he would prefer to play on the right side of midfield.
Laurent has started up front for the Blues in the past, but played on the wing in Saturday's win over Stockport.
He told BBC Essex: "If the gaffer says to me it's best for the team for me to play striker then I'll say 'yes', but I prefer to play on the right wing.
"I like to run with the ball, dribble, shoot and cross, so that's why for me it's easier to play on the wing."
"I can get the ball at my feet and then it's easier to go forward," added the 23-year-old.
"When I play striker it's a little bit harder because the defender is close to you and it's hard sometime, but it's okay."
Frenchman Laurent has scored one goal for the Blues so far this season.
