Van Den Broek joined the Shrews in January from HFC Haarlem
Shrewsbury Town winger Benjamin van den Broek has his sights set on earning a new contract with the club, despite not starting a league game this season.
The 23-year-old Dutchman has been out of action for three weeks after injuring his ankle in a reserves match against Preston.
"I want to earn a new contract because I'm only on a one-year deal," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"I want to stay here and be part of a promotion winning side."
The former NAC Breda midfielder turned down a chance to return to Holland after a number of clubs showed an interest in signing him.
However, he has been hampered by an ankle injury and has made only one start this season, against Stoke City in the Carling Cup.
"I know I was close to starting before I got injured in the reserves. That's why it's been frustrating, but I've played well when I've come on as a substitute so I'll work hard and show what I can do."
