Shrewsbury Town's Benjamin van den Broek suffers injury

Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury midfielder Benjamin van den Broek is facing a lengthy lay-off after breaking his ankle.

The 22-year-old, who has appeared as a substitute in each of the Shrews' five league games this season, is expected to be out for six to eight weeks.

He suffered the fracture during a reserve match against Preston North End on Wednesday.

"He just fell awkwardly and it's a real blow for him," boss Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"We've got Kris Bright fit again, and we've got young Tom Bradshaw - but if we feel we need to look at the loan market, we will."

Van den Broek joined the Shrews as a free agent in February.
