Shrewsbury Town drop surprises Paul Murray

Shrewsbury Town midfielder Paul Murray admits he was surprised to be dropped against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Murray was replaced by Canadian Terry Dunfield, who scored the only goal.

"Terry has done very well but I thought I had done enough to keep my spot, but the manager saw differently," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"I'm disappointed but I'll keep grafting away and training right. We have had a good run and it's nice to be near the top of the table."

He added: "I want to be part of something successful this season."

The former Gretna midfielder has recovered from an ankle injury and hopes to break back into the side.

"It's only the second time in my career I've spent time on the bench, the last time was when I was 21. But it's a squad game and I'm there to be used when called upon," he said.
