Coughlan joined Town from Rotherham in July 2008 (James Baylis)
Shrewsbury defender Graham Coughlan said there will be no room for sentiment when Town travel to his old club Rotherham in a must-win game.
The Shrews are eighth in League Two, a point behind Chesterfield who occupy the final play-off place.
"I wouldn't have thought there'd be any emotion. It's just another game," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"I believe [Rotherham] are a League One side. Their position is false. It will be tough but it's about us, not them."
Coughlan, who joined Shrewsbury from the Millers last summer, added: "Mark Robins is a bright, up-and-coming manager, the fans are passionate, and they really care about their football club."
Rotherham United are 14th in League Two having started their campaign with a 17-point deduction.
The Shrews have won just one away league match this season - against Exeter in August last year - and have won just one out of their last 10 games.
