Shrewsbury Town midfielder Kevin McIntyre could be back from his double leg break within just six weeks.

McIntyre suffered a double fracture of his right fibula during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Port Vale - and was expected to be ruled out for the season.

But manager Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire: "The specialist has said there's a possibility he could be back in training in six weeks.

"It's a goal to aim for. We hope to get him back before the end of the season."

McIntyre, who has not missed a game since signing from Macclesfield in January 2008, was carried off late on in the second half at Vale Park.

"At the time I thought it was a dead calf," McIntyre told BBC Radio Shropshire. "I didn't realise it was so serious".

Meanwhile, Shrewsbury have confirmed Marc Pugh's sending off at Vale Park has been overturned by the Football Association's appeals panel.

Pugh was sent off just three minutes after he came on as a substitute against the Valiants.

Shrewsbury have allowed young keeper Jaz Singh to go out on loan to Southern League Division One Midland side Sutton Coldfield Town.
