Nick Chadwick hopes to make his Shrewsbury debut against Port Vale
Shrewsbury Town striker Nick Chadwick is relishing the opportunity to develop his game working with Paul Simpson.
After signing a deal to play for Shrewsbury until the end of the season, he admitted that Town boss Simpson was a big factor in his decision.
"I wanted to work with him," he told BBC Shropshire. "I think he can help me get where I want to be. You know he wants to do things the right way."
Chadwick revealed Shrewsbury had shown an interest in him during the summer.
"It wasn't a case of turning anything down because nothing was offered," said Chadwick.
Chadwick's first game is set to be Saturday's local derby at Port Vale, when Town will look for revenge following the dramatic 2-1 injury-time home defeat to Vale back in October.
Simpson is still without suspended top goal scorer Grant Holt. And, after the disappointment of last Saturday's postponement of the Chester City game, Chadwick cannot wait to make a delayed debut.
"A local derby will add a bit of spice to the occasion," he said. "I'm sure we can go there and get a positive result."
The 26-year-old, who started his career at Everton, scored the majority of his 18 league goals in his three and a half seasons at Plymouth Argyle. But, after joining Hereford United on a short-term deal this season, he scored just once in 12 games.
