We need fans behind us - Murray

Shrewsbury Town midfielder Paul Murray has urged Town fans to get behind the team as they prepare to take on the top teams in League Two over Christmas.

The Shrews play top-of-the-table Wycombe at the weekend and face trips to seventh-placed Rochdale and second-placed Bury over the festive period.

Murray told BBC Radio Shropshire: "No matter what goes on on the pitch, we need the fans as our 12th man.

"We've got to get the fans right behind us," the ex-Gretna 32-year-old added.

Town are third in League Two but they hope to close the gap at the top of the table when they take on Peter Taylor's Wycombe at the Prostar stadium.

Murray is confident they can get all three points: "If we keep up our home form and away form gets better, there's no doubt we will get promotion."
