Simpson hopes to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window
Shrewsbury boss Paul Simpson has said their hard-earned 1-0 win over ten-man Bury could spark a revival in 2009.
"These types of games can change your season," the Town manager told BBC Radio Shropshire after his side halted a run of three straight defeats.
"Even when Bury had someone sent off, we had to be patient and keep passing the ball and thankfully we came away with three points."
Grant Holt scored his 20th goal of the season to seal the victory late on.
"Now we have to make sure we use this as a platform to push on again," Simpson added.
Town go into the New Year back in the play-off places in League Two and with confidence higher for their first game of 2009, away to promotion rivals Bradford.
