Grant Holt ended Shrewsbury's run of three league defeats against a Bury side who had Efe Sodje sent off.

Shrewsbury made hard work of breaking down the Shakers despite Sodje's dismissal for elbowing Michael Symes.

But the breakthrough came 14 minutes from time when Ben Davies crossed for Holt to float a header over Wayne Brown for his 20th goal of the season.

Bury twice went close from late corners before Brown made two smart saves to deny Richard Walker in injury time.
