Hatch price too much for Shrews

Shrewsbury Town have decided not to pursue any interest in Peterborough United striker Liam Hatch.

"We made an enquiry about Liam, but the figures we were quoted by Peterborough were far too much for us," boss Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"They say we made an six-figure offer, which isn't true. We made an enquiry, and now we are looking elsewhere.

"We'll try and get the right player in - and that's not just in the striker position, but in other areas as well."

Rotherham are also thought to have shown an interest in Hatch, a 150,000 signing a year ago from Barnet, who had picked him up from non-League Ebbsfleet.

Hatch went out on loan earlier this season to Darlington, where he suffered a suspected broken neck in the Quakers' FA Cup defeat at Droylsden, only for it to be diagnosed as bruising.
