Hunt had not played in League Two for Shrewsbury this season because of injury
Brentford have signed midfielder David Hunt on a contract until the end of the season after he was released by League Two promotion rivals Shrewsbury.
The 26-year-old, who has also played for Leyton Orient and Crystal Palace, joined the Shrews from Northampton.
Hunt told the Brentford website: "I'm really happy to sign for Brentford and was keen to return to my roots in London as we have a young daughter.
"I know boss Andy Scott from Orient and had no qualms about signing."
Hunt is Scott's first signing during the January transfer window.
Meanwhile Bees striker Moses Ademola has been recalled from his loan spell at Welling United, after originally being given the go-ahead to extend his stay at the Conference South club.
