Daniels doubt after hospital trip

Luke Daniels is on loan at Shrewsbury from West Brom

Shrewsbury keeper Luke Daniels could be sidelined after having 15 stitches in a severely cut mouth and injuring his leg against Port Vale at the weekend.

Daniels was taken to hospital after a clash with Marc Richards as the Vale man scored a controversial late winner.

"He had three different cuts in his mouth, and he also has a dead leg," said Town boss Paul Simpson.

"I've watched the replay countless times and how the ref didn't give a foul I just don't know."

Simpson will check on his 20-year-old on-loan keeper's progress through the week, but he is more confident that Dave Hibbert - who also went to hospital for stitches after the Vale defeat - will be fit for Saturday's game against Bournemouth.

"We can moan as much as we like, but the Port Vale game's gone now and we've just got to get on with things," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.
