Shrewsbury Town defender Ben Herd believes the club's early surge to the top of the League two table is thanks to Paul Simpson's style of management.
The 23-year-old told BBC Radio Shropshire: "I feel fitter, stronger, and more confident than last season.
"I have to take my hat off to [previous manager] Gary Peters, as he gave me my first chance in League football.
"But Paul Simpson thinks differently, he's a more modern in his approach, and it's more enjoyable under him."
More robust training and some strong signings over the summer have seen Shrewsbury win their first three League games without conceding a goal.
Herd added: "There's a long way to go but yes - it's a great start."
