Smith was delighted with Telford's 3-2 win over Gainsborough

AFC Telford boss Rob Smith praised his battling players after their extra time Setanta Shield win over Gainsborough.

The Bucks trailed 2-0 but battled back to win 3-2 with goals from Jarred Stevens, Jon Adams and Jamie Vermiglio.

"A lot of teams 2-0 down in the Setanta Shield might've jacked it in, but my lads never gave up and I'm proud of that," Smith told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"We're unbeaten at home, and I want the team and the fans to make the Bucks Head a fortress."

Chairman Lee Carter said: "We need maximum effort on and off the pitch."
