Thornton has enjoyed spells with Sunderland, Doncaster and Tranmere

Shrewsbury Town have strengthened their midfield by signing Sean Thornton on a month's loan from Leyton Orient.

Boss Paul Simpson said the arrival of the Irish-born 25-year-old will ease his side's injury problems.

"With both Paul Murray and David Hunt out for a number of weeks, I felt it was important to get someone creative in," Simpson told the club website.

"I've not been particularly happy with the link between the back four and the strikers and Sean can help us."
