Sean Thornton's stunning goal earned Shrewsbury a point at Darlington.
On-loan midfielder Sean Thornton has been offered an extra four weeks at Shrewsbury - but has responded by asking to stay for longer.
"I've spoken to Paul Simpson," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. "And he's asked me to stay for another month, but I'd like to stay for perhaps two or three.
"Shrewsbury are a progressive club with an exciting team that are going places.
"It's difficult adapting for one month at a time, so I'd like to stay longer and settle in here."
Thornton - who pressed his claim with a thunderous equaliser for the Shrews at Darlington at the weekend - will hold further discussions with Simpson about extending his time in Shropshire.
The former Sunderland midfielder feels he can still feature at a higher level. And he has told the BBC that he sees a successful spell at promotion-chasing Shrewsbury as a useful stepping-stone.
His current loan from Leyton Orient runs out in a week's time.
