Town boss on right road - Davies

Ben Davies
Ben Davies has welcomed Paul Simpson's arrival at Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury Town skipper Ben Davies feels the club's new manager Paul Simpson is really shaking the place up.

Simpson has so far been unable to halt a winless run which has now stretched to 12 games. But Davies said: "Training is harder than it's been all season.

"The lads are really buzzing off it. And so they should, as many of us are playing for our futures.

"He wants us to push forward, create things and to knock the ball about more freely and that helps our self-belief."

All Town need now, having slipped to 18th in League Two, is a first win for their new manager, who saw Shrewsbury twice earn a point over Easter after starting with a defeat at Macclesfield.

But they went close in Monday's goalless draw with Notts County at Oteley Road after failing to convert a number of chances. And Davies is insistent that Simpson will help them get things right.

"His professionalism, his emphasis on fitness, and his nutritional plans are all spot on," added the Town skipper.
