Striker Jonathan Forte has signed a new one-year deal with Scunthorpe United.

Forte, 23, joined The Iron from Sheffield United in July 2007, and has made 90 appearances, including 59 off the bench, for the club.

He has scored seven goals in that time, and has had spells on loan at Doncaster, Rotherham and Notts County.

Though he was born in Sheffield and was capped by England at youth level, Forte recently committed his international future to Barbados.

"I'm very happy to sign the new contract and resolve my future," Forte told the club website.

"Hopefully I can break into the team here now. I'd love to be in the starting line-up at Reading on the opening day.

"I'm just going to get my head down in training, work hard and try and take my chance in the friendly matches."
