Scunthorpe have completed the signing of Bobby Grant from Accrington Stanley for a fee of up to £260,000, based on performance and appearances.
Midfielder Grant, 19, was out of contract but, as he is under 24, compensation was due on the transfer.
Scunthorpe general manager David Beeby told the club's website: "Both clubs are reasonably happy with the fee."
Accrington chief executive Robert Heys said: "We can immediately add the money to the playing budget for next season."
