Huddersfield Town have agreed a deal to sign Gateshead striker Lee Novak and will discuss personal terms on Monday.
It is understood the deal will mean Novak will remain at Gateshead on loan for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old has chosen Huddersfield over Scunthorpe, who failed with a third and final undisclosed bid.
Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins told BBC Radio Humberside: "It is disappointing but hopefully the lad goes on to have a good career."
Adkins has also confirmed he is trying to make the loan signings of Barnsley striker Kayodi Odejayi and Doncaster Rovers forward Gareth Taylor.
