Iriekpen has signed for City until the summer

Former Scunthorpe defender Izzy Iriekpen has agreed a deal with Bristol City until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old is expected to go straight into the squad for the weekend game with Barnsley at Ashton Gate.

"If I can get into the team and start playing well then it will work out for me and the club will benefit too," he told the club's website.

"I've been here for a week and the lads have made it easy for me to settle in and the manager's been great to me."

He added: "It's a deal that works out for both parties."

Iriekpen left Scunthorpe by mutual consent earlier this month and has not played a first-team game since the middle of December.

City, who were beatean in last season's Championship play-off final, are currently mid-table but are unbeaten in their last four league games.
