Togwell was part of the Barnsley team to beat Chelsea last year
Scunthorpe United have completed the double signing of midfielder Sam Togwell and goalkeeper Sam Slocombe.
Togwell, 23, joins from Barnsley on a two-year deal after being made available for transfer last season.
Twenty-year-old former Bottesford Town keeper Slocombe joins on a short-term deal until January.
"It's a good move for me, the club are ambitious in that they want to get back into the Championship," Togwell told the club's website.
"I wouldn't have signed if I didn't think we were capable of promotion."
Togwell began his career with Crystal Palace but was unable to break into the first team at Selhurst Park and spent time on loan at Oxford, Northampton and Port Vale.
Hopefully we can gain promotion this year

He joined Barnsley in 2006 and went on to make over 50 appearances for the club.
"Hopefully we can gain promotion this year, whether it's play-offs or automatic only time will tell."
Slocombe has been brought in to provide competition for the goalkeeping positions with Joe Murphy, Josh Lillis and Kevin Pressman.
