Calderwood was Super League's leading try-scorer in 2005

Hull have signed winger Mark Calderwood on a two-year deal from Wigan for the 2009 season.

The 26-year-old, whose contract was not renewed at Wigan, is a replacement for Matt Sing, who has retired.

Hull coach Richard Agar said: "I am looking forward to having Mark here. He's a proven try-scorer and will add a lot of pace to our flank."

Calderwood, who began his Super League career at Leeds, added: "Hull is a great club - this is an exciting move."

He has scored 135 tries for his two previous Super League clubs and was the league's leading try-scorer in 2005, with 27 touchdowns.

Calderwood is Hull's second major signing for next season after Australian Test forward Michael Crocker agreed to move from Melbourne.

Agar stated: "Mark has probably not had the best of times since leaving Leeds to join Wigan but we know he is determined to recapture the form and reach the heights he scaled when he was at Leeds."

Calderwood is in Scotland's squad for the World Cup, which begins in October, after qualifying through Scottish grandparents.
